The number eight signifies abundance following a period of time (a week, seven years, or a millennium) of preparatory activity. The eighth day, eighth year, or the eighth millennium ushers in abundance and blessings. The pattern of seven days followed by a special eighth day, a new start, applies to the eighth day circumcision (Genesis 17:12), the leper being set apart for cleansing, the land sabbath and the year of release, the Great White Throne Judgment and the new heavens and earth within the eighth millennium (when Jesus Christ will turn over all the Kingdoms to the Father), a glorious time of the consecration of the Priesthood of Israel after seven millennial preparation days at which time the eighth millennial day represents the goal of reaching the royal priesthood ordination at which time God will be all in all (I Corinthians 15:28). The offering to Almighty God of a royal priesthood replaces the abundant animal offerings which served only as a type of the spiritual antitype.
