The Harvest Is Almost In!

CGG Weekly by John O. Reid

Like my friend Bill, who toiled tirelessly during the harvest season on his family farm, we are engaged in a significant harvest, symbolized by the Feast of Pentecost. Just as Bill labored through long, grueling hours under challenging conditions, so must we endure in our efforts, though our harvest holds far greater importance. Will we, in time, reflect on our accomplishments with the same warmth and satisfaction that Bill felt? Will we be able to set aside the pain, drudgery, setbacks, and struggles, and rejoice when our harvest is complete? Indeed, we will. The harvest we have long yearned for is near, yet a little more labor remains before the return of Christ. Even so, our salvation draws closer with each passing day. The ultimate reward of our harvest will be everlasting life in God's Kingdom, where we will experience true accomplishment, satisfaction, and joy.

Seedtime and Harvest

Sermonette by Martin G. Collins

Like the farmer waiting patiently for the rains, we must wait patiently for the yield of the implanted seed, the fruit God will harvest from us.

Seeds and Seasons (Part Two)

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

God employs the harvest as a powerful metaphor to teach His children about His divine process of growing and gathering a spiritual harvest from humanity. Through the cycles of sowing, cultivating, and reaping, He illustrates the steps He takes to nurture faith in Jesus Christ, the One He sent. The holy days reveal that God plans not one, but three distinct harvests, each ripening at different times under His careful oversight. He scatters seeds of truth throughout human history, yet most remain dormant, unwatered by His Spirit. While God has used preachers like Noah, the prophets, the apostles, and His own Son to plant these seeds, He waters only a few, working intimately with a small number of plants. In the future, however, a time will come when the Holy Spirit will be available to all, awakening long-dormant seeds of truth to grow into the final crop of His spiritual harvest. The church bears the responsibility to publish truth and encourage belief, primarily among those God is already watering with His Spirit, while also scattering seeds to the world for future growth during times like the Great Tribulation, the Millennium, or the Great White Throne Judgment. Every interaction with those not yet called offers a chance to plant seeds through conduct, attitude, and character, reflecting a transcendent way of life. Though we cannot know when God will water these seeds, we fulfill our role in His grand harvest by remaining close to Him, allowing Him to work through us in His perfect season.

Seeds and Seasons (Part One)

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

The concept of harvest serves as a powerful metaphor within the cycles of God's creation, reflecting the spiritual processes He is working out. Just as a farmer operates within the seasons to plant and gather crops, God employs a similar pattern in His purpose, with distinct times for planting seeds of belief and spiritual truth, and for harvesting children in His image. God prepares the soil of human hearts, scatters His truth through His servants, waters it with the Holy Spirit, and tends to the growing faith alongside His church, which must foster an environment of belief and truth. The timing of this spiritual harvest is critical, marked by an early harvest of firstfruits, a larger harvest during the Millennium, and a vast harvest following the Second Resurrection, illustrating that not all will believe simultaneously but according to God's appointed seasons.

The Appointed Weeks of Pentecost

Sermon by David C. Grabbe

Each day in the count is a reminder to consider what we are sowing and what we are cultivating because it will assuredly come to fruition and then evaluation.

Pentecost's Two Leavened Loaves (Part Four)

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

The Pentecost offering of two loaves contains the idea of difference, while the New Testament Pentecost in Acts 2 shows differences being divinely overcome.

The Wavesheaf Offering

'Personal' from John W. Ritenbaugh

Most know little about the wavesheaf offering, even though it represents one of the most significant acts: the resurrection and ascension of Christ!

Patience With Growth

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Fruit maturation takes time. Waiting for the fruit is just part of the story; while we wait, we must also work, including thinning and pruning.

Shouting Gleanings and Singing Olives (Part One)

Sermon by Charles Whitaker (1944-2021)

Isaiah 24 prophesies that God will preserve a remnant made up of grape gleanings (the His Church) and of olives (national Israelites) who will sing together.

The Book of Joel (Part Three)

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

In the fullness of time, God will pour His spirit on all peoples, including those who had formerly directed their hostility on God and His chosen people.
