Why Must Satan Be Released?
'Prophecy Watch' by David C. GrabbeThe great hope of Christians is that Jesus Christ will return to establish His Kingdom on earth, where He will be King of kings and Lord of lords. At that time, He will depose Satan from his current rulership of this world, ending the malignant, unseen influence that has ensnared humanity since the beginning. Humanity has long rejected God's government, choosing instead to follow this cruel governor, which has led to persistent misery in the world. However, during the Millennium, this order will be reversed as Satan will no longer rule, and God's government will be embraced. Revelation 20:1-3 describes Satan's future binding, during which he will be prevented from deceiving the nations for the duration of the Millennium. This binding serves to protect the nations from deception, though it is not his final punishment. Later, Satan will be released, and he will immediately resume deceiving humanity, condemning himself with his lies. His release after a thousand years serves as a powerful lesson about his unchanging nature, demonstrating that even with advance knowledge of his disastrous end, he persists in rebellion. Despite witnessing the peace and prosperity under Christ's rule, Satan will discount the evidence and continue to act in ways that destroy others, driven by a conviction that he deserves more than what God has given. Satan's removal will bring relief to the earth, as his presence always spawns turmoil, chaos, sin, misery, and destruction. His release also acts as a test for the nations, separating those inclined to follow his deceptions from those who listen to God. Ultimately, God will judge Satan for his unending opposition, just as He will judge the nations who follow the Deceiver's poisonous message. While Satan's influence amplifies human perversity, the root issue remains humanity's inclination toward self-centeredness, which aligns with his nature.

Spiritual Blindness (Part One): The God of This World
'Prophecy Watch' by David C. GrabbeGod exercises sovereignty over both physical and spiritual realms, often in ways that challenge human understanding. While He rules supremely, Satan is described in Scripture as the ruler of this world, a title given by Jesus Himself in John 12:31, 14:30, and 16:11. Additionally, Paul refers to Satan as the prince or ruler of the power of the air in Ephesians 2:2, and the gospel accounts consistently name him the ruler of the demons. Despite this authority, Satan's power is limited and far beneath God's, as he can only act within the boundaries God permits. Scripture emphasizes that Satan's capabilities, though significant and not to be underestimated, do not approach God's level. While God holds ultimate dominion, Satan's role as ruler over this age is one of constrained influence, never equating to divine status.

Behind Enemy Lines: Lucifer, Helel, and Satan
Sermonette by Clyde FinkleaWhile the world is embroiled in physical conflicts, God's people must recognize that we are engaged in a profound spiritual battle. Satan, once the anointed cherub named Helel, rebelled against God and now stands as the adversary, ruling over this present age with deception and malice. As revealed in Ephesians 2:2, he is the prince of the power of the air, leading the demonic host that fills our atmosphere with Satanic deception, doubts, and temptations, operating as a unified force under his authority. This same passage describes him as the spirit working continuously in the sons of disobedience, energizing their attitudes, moods, and impulses to promote rebellion against God. Satan's character as the ruler of this world is further exposed in Galatians 1:4, where this age is called evil due to his pervasive influence, growing worse through his presence and activity. In I John 5:19, he is named the evil one, a malignant force like a cancer to humanity. Revelation 12:9 underscores his role as the deceiver of the whole world, using lies, denial, counterfeiting, and distortion of truth to lead people astray. Despite his power, Satan's days are numbered, for He who is the true Light-bearer, Jesus Christ, has secured victory, and the God of peace will soon crush this great deceiver.
