This neglect is especially evident on college campuses where faculty ban the Bible yet promote other religious texts, among students who ridicule Scripture, and throughout government, the nation, and secular media that discuss anything except the name of Jesus Christ. Such indifference flows directly from the same enmity that led the crowd to choose Barabbas over the sinless Christ, revealing an unwillingness to let Jesus rule their lives or call them to repentance. The material connects this pattern of ignoring God to the three parables of judgment spoken on the Mount of Olives, each showing that those who fail to prepare, use their gifts, or serve the least of Christ's brothers will be surprised and condemned when the Lord returns to demand an accounting. In this way the discussion of ignoring Christ advances the central question of what kind of witness each person is, underscoring that neutrality is impossible and that every individual must ultimately decide whether to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God or face the consequences of having disregarded Him.
