Jesus Disqualified?

'Ready Answer' by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Jesus Christ, the Seed of David, holds a vital claim to the throne through His lineage, which is traced back to David in two separate genealogies. In Luke 3, likely representing His biological lineage through Mary, and in Matthew 1, both affirm His rightful connection to David, strengthening His position as the Messiah. The absence of Solomon in the Luke genealogy bears no stigma or disqualification, as David's name remains the essential link in messianic terms. Furthermore, the purpose of Luke's gospel, written primarily to Gentiles, emphasizes Jesus' humanity, showing Him as the Messiah not only for the Jews but for all mankind, tracing His lineage back to Adam to highlight His universality. These genealogical records, though significant, are but a small part of the evidence of His Messiahship, as His miracles, the Father's proclamations, His own acknowledgments, fulfilled prophecies, and His role as Savior provide overwhelming proof that He is indeed the Christ.
