Biblical Wisdom
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughWisdom involves learning from God's revealed instruction, accepting it, and putting it into practice with the help of God's spirit. Wisdom requires making right godly choices and living out those choices through conduct and deeds. Wisdom appears in actions such as loving the Lord, obeying His voice, and clinging to Him. Obedience activates wisdom, as seen when one chooses life by following God's commandments, statutes, and judgments. Without corresponding works, wisdom remains incomplete and ineffective, much like faith without works. Chokmah carries a sense of skill and ability that leads to performing God's work through obedient conduct. Jesus Christ embodies wisdom from God, and following His example produces wise living marked by obedience to God. Wisdom leads to life and blessing when one obeys God and keeps His commandments.
