The Three Witnesses of Christ (Part Three)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeGod's children, having repented and been baptized, are called to live lives full of good works, motivated by the priceless gift of Christ's shed blood. They will testify of Him through the Holy Spirit, continually growing in His image and taking on His character. Their conduct will reflect their love for Him and their fellow man, demonstrating their commitment to keeping His laws and resembling the Lawgiver. True belief in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God, supplied by God, empowers them to overcome the world, prevailing over personal lusts and pride through a process of growth and development toward the fullness of Christ's stature. This belief, combined with deep conviction, motivates them to act by being washed clean of sin, accepting Christ's redemptive blood, and striving to align their lives with everything God requires and desires. Those who truly believe will have the witness of the water, the blood, and the Spirit within themselves, spurring them to follow in the footsteps of Christ as their Forerunner, preparing to enter fully into the Family of God.
The Three Witnesses of Christ (Part Two)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeJesus Christ, in His teachings, emphasized the role of the Holy Spirit in bearing witness to His identity. He declared that when the Helper, the Spirit of truth, comes from the Father, He will testify of Him. Christ also instructed His disciples that they, too, would bear witness because they had been with Him from the beginning. The presence of the Holy Spirit in an individual serves as a silent testimony, not necessarily through spoken words, but through the evidence of a transformed life. Christ further affirmed, just before His ascension, that the disciples would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them, enabling them to be witnesses of Him to the ends of the earth. A life bearing the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—becomes a powerful testimony, more effective than any spoken word before a judge or jury. Additionally, the Spirit that testified in the lives of the disciples, pointing to God's work in them, will likewise testify in the lives of all who receive it, reflecting the ongoing divine work of creation in God's image.
The Three Witnesses of Christ (Part One)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeWitnessing for Christ is a vital aspect of our faith, as demonstrated through the example of His baptism. Jesus Christ did not need to be baptized for the cleansing of sin, yet He underwent this ceremony to set an example for us. His baptism served as a public profession and a symbol of the covenant relationship with God, witnessing to all present that He held an extraordinary bond with the Father. Through this act, He showed us the path we should follow, emphasizing the importance of bearing witness to our faith through our actions and obedience.
