The Beginning of Sorrows
Sermon by Clyde FinkleaWe are living in the last days, a period that began with Jesus' defeat of sin, death, and satan at the crucifixion and resurrection. As we approach the end of this age, we may be entering the time Jesus referred to as the beginning of sorrows. In Matthew 24, within the Olivet prophecy, Jesus outlines the signs of His coming and the end of the age, warning of deception, wars, and commotions, which signify instability and disorder. He describes nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom, indicating conflicts between races, ethnicities, and governments. Famines and pestilences, including global pandemics, continue to plague the world, contributing to widespread hunger and fear. These sorrows, likened to the pain of childbirth, are intense and unstoppable once they begin, signaling the nearing end. As these events unfold, we stand at the threshold of this critical time, witnessing the culmination of the last days that started 2,000 years ago.
