God is not simply greater than humanity. He exists in a category entirely His own, defined by four non-transmittable attributes that set Him apart from all creation: omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, and immutability. God is omnipotent, meaning all-powerful and all-ruling. Scripture calls Him Almighty 48 times in the Old Testament and 9 times in the New Testament. Yet omnipotence does not mean God can do anything without restriction. He cannot lie, and He cannot deny Himself, because He cannot act contrary to His own perfect nature. Omnipotence is the power to carry out the will of His own perfect divine nature. Nothing in creation escapes His authority, and His purposes are accomplished without fail. God is omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere at once through His Holy Spirit. No location in the universe places anyone beyond His reach. Though He rules from His throne in the highest heaven, His Spirit fills all of creation. While sin can separate individuals from a close relationship with Him, it cannot remove His awareness of them. Believers are described as the temple of God, in whom His Spirit dwells personally. God is omniscient, meaning He knows all things, including the secret intentions of the human heart. Nothing is hidden from His sight. He fully knows Himself and all things actual and possible, past, present, and future. His knowledge does not eliminate human free will, but He arranges circumstances to challenge and develop character, knowing people deeply enough to guide them toward growth. God is immutable, meaning He does not change in character, purpose, or promise. His truth does not evolve, His standards of righteousness do not shift, and His promises cannot be broken. Passages that seem to portray a changeable God reflect changes in His relational responses to human choices within conditional covenants, not changes in His nature or ultimate purp
