The Dark Side of Government

CGG Weekly by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Corruption in government is a pervasive issue. Political corruption investigations and trials frequently surface across the nation, suggesting that corrupt leaders may hold more sway than honest ones. This corruption is visible at all levels, from state politics to the highest offices, where U.S. Presidents and Congress members have faced scandals, allegations of abuse of power, and charges ranging from bribery to trading pork projects for votes. This pervasive dishonesty in governance, driven by human nature's susceptibility to the pulls of the flesh, the world, and the devil, appears to be a constant throughout history, marking every form of government with the stain of unbridled human tendencies.

Truth Has Fallen in the Streets

Commentary by Clyde Finklea

There is an overwhelming presence of corruption and deceit permeating the nation, marked by confusion and lies at unprecedented levels. Truth has fallen in the street, obscured by conflicting messages and manipulations from those in power. The media and influential entities propagate inconsistencies, as seen in the shifting narratives around masks and vaccinations, often blaming and marginalizing those who dissent. This corruption extends to the political sphere, where dishonesty seems rampant, and justice is distant, deterred by pervasive sins. The innocent are condemned while the guilty are acquitted, and there is a lack of compassion, mercy, and righteousness, replaced instead by lawlessness, violence, and oppression. Policies and actions reflect a controlling agenda, where personal choices are overridden, and individuals face severe repercussions for non-compliance, reminiscent of oppressive mechanisms. The administration appears so entrenched in deceit that they believe their own fabrications, selling a well-packaged web of lies to the masses, rendering truth preposterous and its bearers outcasts.

America's Mercenary Culture

'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

A culture of mercenaries pervades society, reflecting a deep-seated corruption where loyalty is scarce. In the political arena of Washington, DC, initiative and votes are sold to the highest bidder, showcasing a mercenary mindset defined by serving merely for pay or sordid advantage. This venal behavior is characterized by traits such as greed, avarice, and being bribable or corruptible. Such characteristics reveal a society without loyalty to any team, ideal, or covenant, functioning as though no contract binds them. This lack of loyalty hinders reconciliation and permeates the culture, subtly influencing thoughts, words, and deeds through pervasive messages of self-interest and personal gain. In contrast, the call is to a higher purpose, rejecting the temptations of personal satisfaction and fulfillment for a life of righteousness and holiness, as exemplified by Jesus Christ, who remained loyal to His Father and rejected satan's offers of personal gain.

Has Humanity Reached Total Depravity? (Part One)

CGG Weekly by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Thelel, the adversary, played a role in the corruption of humanity, leading to a state of total depravity as described by God in Genesis 6:5. The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. This observation was not a sudden realization but a result of God's careful scrutiny over an extended period, watching humanity's steady moral deterioration from purity to wickedness since the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. The wickedness was described as great, indicating not just minor misdeeds but true evil, corruption, and depravity that multiplied exponentially across the earth. This pervasive sin was universal, affecting every region with no area spared from the destruction it brought. The intent behind every thought and action of pre-Flood humanity was rooted in evil, producing only more corruption and destruction in everything they touched. God noted that their hearts were only evil, with no trace of good remaining, and this evil was ceaseless, persisting all the time in every individual's heart. Thus, the universal wickedness necessitated a universal punishment, leading God to send a global Flood to address the total depravity that had engulfed humanity.
