The growers are not just aging hippies in California or Hawaii; most of the crop is grown in the nation's midsection, from the Appalachians to the Great Plains, by farmers who look like wholesome citizens. An estimated three million Americans grow it, mostly for themselves and their friends, and between 100,000 and 200,000 do so for a living. Many people therefore live two lives, upright on the outside and crooks underneath, thriving on an illegal economy. This corruption runs from head to foot, and it destroys the nation from within, which is why God rightly calls the Israelite people Sodom and Egypt.
