'You Are My Witnesses...'
Article by Martin G. CollinsIn the context of God's plan, a witness is one who observes an event and reports it to others, bearing testimony to the truth as revealed by God. The Two Witnesses, as described, are granted the privilege and strength by God to proclaim His truth publicly before the world during a specified time, not necessarily to predict future events but to maintain and communicate divine revelation. God offers protection to those who obey Him, and as part of His witness protection program, if anyone seeks to harm the Two Witnesses, fire proceeds from their mouth to devour their enemies, demonstrating His safeguarding power. The saints, as part of the Church, overcome satan through the blood of Christ, shed for the forgiveness of sins, and by the word of their testimony. Collectively and individually, they are to witness for God by their works, glorifying Him through a reliable and accurate representation of His way of life. Witnessing is not merely an occasional activity but a continuous quality of life, where actions and deeds daily write a sermon that others read, reflecting the truth or falsehood of one's testimony for God.
You Are My Witnesses That I Am God
Sermon by Martin G. CollinsThe concept of witness holds profound significance, particularly in the role of the apostles who directly observed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These disciples possess a unique status as witnesses, akin to direct signatories to a will, bearing testimony to the saving death of Jesus. Their witness often meant martyrdom, as the Greek word for witness, "martyrs," already carried deep significance even during the time of Christ. These apostles, through their firsthand accounts, testify to the predetermined and meaningful events surrounding the arrest, trial, and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, affirming that nothing in these occurrences was accidental but was specifically foretold by God. Their role as witnesses challenges each of us to consider what kind of witness we are to His life and sacrifice.
Principled Living (Part Five): Witnessing of God
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus selected twelve men of Judah from Galilee as His special witnesses, much as Boaz chose ten respected elders of Bethlehem to confirm his redemption of land and Ruth. These apostles observed every action and word of Jesus Christ throughout three and a half years of public ministry, His trial, cruel death, burial, resurrection appearances, and ascension. After they received the Holy Spirit, He commissioned them to testify of these events first in Jerusalem, then throughout Judea and Samaria, and finally to the ends of the earth. Their testimony centered on God's anointing of Jesus of Nazareth, His good works and healings, His hanging on a tree, His being raised on the third day, and His appointment as Judge of the living and the dead. In their preaching and writings they repeatedly stressed that they had heard Him with their ears, seen Him with their eyes, looked upon Him, and handled Him with their hands, thereby furnishing irrefutable proof of eternal life manifested from the Father. Through this eyewitness proclamation they turned the known world upside down, establishing congregations among both Jews and Gentiles. Some later sealed their testimony with their blood, yet the primary sense of their witness remained the giving of authoritative proof rather than death itself. Their completed work transferred the same responsibility to the church of God, which continues to bear testimony of the same Christ through both spoken declaration and daily conduct until the gospel of the Kingdom has been preached to all nations.

The Post-Resurrection Last Words of Christ (Part Two)
