Has America Gone Crazy? (Part Two)
Commentary by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)The term "crazy" originally meant full of cracks, with synonyms like flawed, unsound, and impractical. Over time, it evolved to describe human psychological conditions, with synonyms shifting to mad, insane, and unusual. It conveys an exaggerated and often transient enthusiasm, akin to mania or obsession, signaling to others a warning to handle such a person with care and not to trust them. In the context of current social and political scenes in America and Britain, if "crazy" does not aptly describe the behaviors and beliefs being adopted, no other term seems more fitting. The reality may be that phenomena like the gender craze are merely attention-getting bandwagons, reflecting a deeper societal insanity.
Gender Madness
Commentary by Richard T. RitenbaughThe current cultural shift in defining gender has led to a proliferation of identities far beyond the binary male and female, with platforms like Tumblr listing as many as 112 genders, including bizarre concepts like astral gender and infinite reflections. This gender madness, as it appears, manifests as various mental disorders, once referred to as craziness, madness, or being out of one's mind. Society seems to be allowing the inmates to run the cultural asylum, reflecting a profound departure from reality and a lack of parental standards in guiding children through these formative years.
