The Beast From the Earth and 666
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughIn Revelation 13, the Beast from the Sea emerges as a significant figure among the major characters and events impacting the end time. This first beast rises up out of the sea, symbolizing instability, agitation, and the ever-changing realm of human politics and power struggles. It represents a political, military, and governmental entity of pure power, born from volatility and confusion. The dragon, the source of its power, throne, and great authority, imbues this beast with a cunning ferocity and savagery, marking it as a wild animal with no tame qualities. Its worldly origin contrasts sharply with heavenly sources, aligning it with the god of this world and highlighting its opposition to divine authority. As a key player in the end-time context, this Beast from the Sea stands as a formidable force, driven by the dragon's influence to challenge the order established by God.
The Beast and Religion
Commentary by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)In the unfolding of end-time events, the beast rising from the sea, as described in Revelation 13, emerges as a central figure of deception and power. This beast is granted authority by the dragon, symbolizing the immense influence of satan's destructive force. The beast from the sea operates within a framework of global control, captivating the masses through the support of a second beast, who rises from the earth and is identified as the false prophet. Together with the dragon, they form a sinister trinity, intent on undermining God's purpose through deceit and manipulation. The beast from the sea, empowered by the dragon, stands as a formidable entity, orchestrating a system that seeks to dominate and mislead. Its influence is magnified by the false prophet, who performs great signs and lying wonders to persuade countless individuals to align with the beast's agenda. These deceptive acts, though real in their manifestation, are designed to conceal satan's true intentions, drawing billions into a web of allegiance to this malevolent power. The worldwide visibility of these events, amplified through modern means, intensifies the pressure to make critical life choices, challenging even the faithful to remain steadfast in their discernment and commitment to God.

The Mark of the Beast
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe beast rises up out of the sea. The beast is described as a political power, a military power, and an economic power that rises up out of the great populations of the earth. They worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him? He was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. The scene shifts. The beast has become a man, a singular human being. The beast becomes identified with the head of that organization.
